ABOUT THE ART
I really admire careful attention to detail in artwork, and that’s what led me to the teacups that I paint. I love how they are beautifully hand-crafted and there is so much thoughtful and intricate
detail in each piece. They make a wonderful and challenging still-life subject! I love pairing these
beautiful man-made treasures with little creatures that come from nature. The beauty of the natural
world and the material world coming together.
The subject matter of my paintings is often informed by a variety of aspects including patron saints, floriography (the language of flowers), the Rococo period, and the regional history of the object(s) I am painting. I love to create pieces that are easy to visually understand at first glance, but upon examination new meaning unfolds from the symbology in the work.
